HeyGen Alternative for SaaS Launch Videos
If you are a founder or a first marketer at a small SaaS company, a search for "heygen alternative" often means the tool is not the right shape for the job. This page looks at that shape. HeyGen is an avatar video platform, so a digital presenter speaks. A launch video can be a different thing, with no person in it. Every HeyGen fact below comes from HeyGen's own pages, read on 2026-10-22.

How HeyGen states its pricing
The HeyGen pricing page lists five plans.
- Free costs $0 per month and offers 3 videos a month, each up to 1 minute, with a watermark.
- Creator costs $29 per month, or $24 per month billed annually according to the page's FAQ. It includes 600 credits a month, videos up to 30 minutes, and the watermark removed.
- Pro starts at $49 per month with 1,000 credits a month. A slider raises the credits, up to 100,000 credits a month at $4,300. The page shows a yearly option for Pro and Business ("2 months free") but does not list a yearly price for them, so no yearly figure is given here.
- Business costs $149 per month, plus $20 per seat per month for added team members. It lists 1,500 credits a month, videos up to 60 minutes, a brand kit, and SCORM export for learning systems.
- Enterprise is priced on request.
Plans are built on credits, and how far a credit goes depends on what you generate. HeyGen's credits help article lists, per minute of video, 4 credits for Avatar III with a video look, 31 for Avatar IV with a video look and 48 for Avatar V. Its Video Agent costs 80 credits per minute in standard mode. As simple arithmetic (our calculation, not a HeyGen figure), 600 credits at 31 credits per minute is about 19 minutes of Avatar IV video in a month. The same article says that on monthly plans unused credits carry over for one more billing cycle while you stay on a paid plan, and that they do not roll over if you cancel to Free.
What HeyGen does well
HeyGen is a serious product, and a fair comparison starts with what it does well.
- Avatar V and custom likeness. The home page presents Avatar V as HeyGen's most advanced avatar model, says it keeps a single, coherent identity across every video, including wide, medium and close-up shots, and says every custom avatar requires on-camera identity verification from the person depicted. That is a thoughtful safeguard.
- Translation. The home page describes video translation that preserves tone and syncs lips across 175+ languages and dialects. The pricing page lists the same language count on its paid plans.
- Several ways in. According to the home page, you can start from text, an image, audio, a PowerPoint or PDF deck, or a prompt. Its Video Agent takes an idea and generates a video, and the page says motion elements stay editable afterward.
- A real free plan. Free gives you 3 short watermarked videos a month, enough to judge the look before you pay. HeyGen's watermark help article says any paid plan can switch the watermark off.
- Team features at the top. The Business plan lists a shared workspace, a brand kit, SCORM export and integrations, which matter to learning and enablement teams.
If you want a presenter who looks like you, in many languages, these are real advantages.
Where it fits a SaaS release video
HeyGen's home page names social content, online courses and sales outreach among its uses, so it can carry a release video when the plan is a presenter announcing the feature. It suits a few situations well:
- A founder-led update where a digital version of you delivers a short announcement, once the avatar is set up.
- A release note for customers in several markets, using translation with lip sync.
- A sales outreach video where a presenter addresses a segment directly.
With an avatar tool, the presenter is on screen. For a public launch video on social channels, some teams prefer the product and the headline to lead, with no person on screen. That is a question of audience. It does not make either approach weaker. Our guide to SaaS launch videos walks through the formats and what each is for.
Where Tunora fits
Tunora (tunora.app) turns one sentence, a file or a website link into a short launch video with scenes, on-screen text and music. There is no presenter, no recording, no avatar and no lip sync. The product's line says it plainly: Describe the feature. Get the launch video.
That makes it a different kind of tool from an avatar platform. For how AI tools in this space compare in general, see our overview of AI launch video generators, and for what the human route costs, read SaaS explainer video cost. Another avatar platform is covered on its own comparison page.
How to choose
Pick by the job, using this rule.
- Should the viewer see a presenter? If yes, especially a digital version of a real person, choose HeyGen.
- Do you need the same message in many languages with lip sync? HeyGen's translation offer is built for that.
- Is it a short launch video where the product leads? Look at Tunora, since it has no presenter.
- Do you know how many minutes you need? HeyGen's credits per minute depend on the avatar model, so work out your monthly minutes first, then check which plan covers them.
Picture a fictional product, Acme Inbox, shipping a shared labels feature on Tuesday. A founder who wants a spoken, personal update in three languages should lean toward HeyGen. A marketer who wants a short public launch video for the same release, with no presenter, should test Tunora. Some teams may use both for different jobs.
